“Buy less, choose well, make it last.” – Vivienne Westwood

Last update: January 2026.

I've bought a lot of RPG stuff over the years; what I still use on a regular basis, years later, is the best guide I can offer to what I think is worth getting.

Active

Savage Worlds by Pinnacle Entertainment. Low-prep, multi-genre RPG, best suited to pulp action-adventure stories; my go-to RPG since 2008. Often paired with The Scheme Pyramid by Wine and Savages, which I've been using since 2019.

The Traveller Map. So much better than anything I could create that it's embarrassing. My default starmap since 2020.

5150 No Limits Maiden Voyage from Rebel Minis Press. Solo space opera, my personal favourite of the numerous 5150 products; I've been playing 5150 since 2008, and this edition since 2018.

Space Corsair's Random Word and Sentence Generator. Does what it says on the tin for the languages of Charted Space, the Official Traveller Universe; I've used it since about 2020.

Dormant

  • All Things Zombie from Rebel Minis Press. Solo zombie apocalypse; I've played ATZ since 2008.
  • The Dracula Dossier by Pelgrane Press. Epic campaign for Night’s Black Agents, though I used Savage Worlds; superspies vs vampires in contemporary Europe. (2022-2024).
  • The Pirates of Drinax by Mongoose Publishing. Outstanding Traveller campaign and sandbox , though again I used Savage Worlds. (2020-2022).
  • Original D&D – yes, the White Box edition (1976-2024).
  • Solo by Zozer Games. Traveller supplement adding support for solo space opera campaigns. Works equally well with Savage Worlds; in use on and off since 2017.
